Movable Space

I talked to my sister on Skype the other night. I asked her to read my blog (so I’d have three readers). She asked me what kind of training I needed for my second Camino. I said that what I really needed to be doing at this point was movement, any kind of movement, just movement. She asked me how that was going. I told her I’d been spending a lot of time thinking about it…in this 3 sq ft x 3 sq ft (that encompasses my body sitting up in bed with my laptop). I like to blame my lack of bodily movement on our (I say “our” because I have a plus one) crowded studio apartment in the City where we work. I told my sister we are going to the country house for a week or two. So I would be moving from the studio 3 sq ft x 3 sq ft to some other 3 sq ft x 3 sq ft at the country house, but with more options if I did get up. My sister laughed and said I reminded her of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story, where Charlie lived in a tiny house with his four grandparents. The house was so tiny that the grandparents stayed in bed all the time, but the beds were shoved together facing each other so they could all talk. At least that’s how she remembers it. That’s about how it is in our studio, with two adults and two cats stuffed in with a little too much furniture.
